Windsurfing: The Loch, Tiree Wind Direction: N Wind Stength: 18-25mph Surf / Sea State: Flat Air Temperature: Cool Sea Temperature: Warm Weather: Dull Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Managed a quick session before we had to head off and catch the ferry. The
wind had been building all night, so we decided to get up early and get to
the loch as quickly as possible - this would give us a good chance of
having a decent sail and get all the gear stashed ready for the journey
back to Aberdeen. Arrived at the loch and the wind was around 20mph, so
decided on the 5.8 Flight and Synchro. This was quite nice to start with,
but the wind was easing up, and the board was starting to get a bit bouncy,
so changed down to the 5.8m and Tribal combination which was working really
fine for the last couple of hours or so before we had to pack up. At least
on the loch, it gave a couple of the guys a chance to use some smaller kit
that they had just acquired, and they were loving it - John Slev on a
Fanatic Rip (94L) and Mike on a Fanatic Gecko (105L). Neither of these guys
had sailed anything less than around 120L before and they were really
getting into it - until Mike put his knee through the deck of the Gecko
10minutes before we had to pack up for the ferry. This session more than
made up for the lack of wind we had experinced over the weekend - at least
on my part.
